Care for Your Japanese Mossball

Watering

Your kokedama should be watered once a week or when the ball feels dry. Fill up a sink or bucket of water & place your kokedama in the water. Submerge the ball in the water for 10 - 20 minutes. Depending on how big your kokedama is the ball may need to soak for longer. Allow the ball to soak up the water, add more water if necessary. Once the ball has soaked up the water, squeeze excess water from the ball & let it drain on the dish rack before returning to its display.

Majority of plant used in kokedamas are indoor plants. The plant inside the kokedama will do best in bright, indirect sunlight. Keep the kokedama inside or undercover away from direct sunlight.

Sunlight

Eventually your kokedama will outgrow its ball. This can be anywhere from 6 months to 5 years! Once this time comes, you can either completely dismantle the ball and rewrap it again. Another option is to take the plant out of the ball & repot the plant in fresh potting soil, fertilise it & water it.

Repotting

Maintenance

Prune any dead leaves & stems. The ball can be rewrapped if the twine begins to break. Fertilise your kokedama once a month. Use a liquid fertiliser, (follow ratio on bottle), when watering.
